Free Expression, High Productivity Doors Assembly Line

The O.L.C.I. Engineering process solution “Free Expression” allowed the production of left and right doors in the same line, with handling robots on one side and welding robots on the other side of the line, resulting in a total saturation of their cycle time without any time loss.

Thanks to this process solution, our Customer obtained a production output of 124 doors (62 left and 62 right doors) every 60 minutes, with a considerable reduction of total investment:

• quantity of robots reduced by 30%,
• all other integrated systems (for example the coating application system) reduced by 50%,
• space saving by 30%.

Multi-model production system with AGVs (patented solution)

O.L.C.I. Engineering process solution with AGVs allows the OEM to replace both the fixtures for the different models and the logistic racks, while production is running.

The result is a reduction of the initial structural investment, the possibility to expand the model range without restrictions and the zero-loss launch of all future models.

Simultaneous Engineering

Car makers are changing their way of working: investments need to be reduced, equipment efficiency must be higher, implementing more and more models in the same production system. 

The sooner OEMs start cooperating with the line builders, the better they can reach the goal of matching product and process in the early engineering stage, thus resulting in more efficient and innovative production systems.

This is the meaning of the Simultaneous Engineering, one of the key activities of O.L.C.I. Engineering.

Some of the S.E. projects that we have carried out until today were focused on entire factories, for which we have analysed and simulated the whole process chain, including production equipment, conveyor systems, material flow and logistics. In most cases we have also drawn up the technical specifications for the OEM’s bidding process.
